MHRB Assam Medical & Health Officer-I (M&HO-I) Recruitment 2026

The Medical and Health Recruitment Board (MHRB), Assam has released a recruitment notification for the Medical & Health Officer–I (M&HO-I) posts. This drive is being conducted under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam, and invites eligible candidates to apply online. Candidates who hold an MBBS degree and are registered with the Assam Medical Council can submit their applications during the notified dates.

This recruitment is for a total of 560 vacancies for the M&HO-I post. The online application window will remain open from 2026-09-07 to 2026-09-20. Applications must be submitted through the official online mode; any submission after the last date will not be accepted. The exact selection process will be notified later by the Board, and the selection procedure will be decided based on the number of applications received. Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay 12,700 along with usual allowances, and the posting will be across Assam.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for Medical & Health Officer–I (M&HO-I) must possess an MBBS degree from any recognized University under the Medical Council of India (MCI). In addition, the candidate must be registered with the Assam Medical Council.

Age Limit

The age limit will be considered as on 01/01/2026. For General/UR candidates, the age limit is 21 to 38 years. For OBC/MOBC candidates, the age limit is 21 to 41 years, which includes a 3 years relaxation. For SC/STP/STH candidates, the age limit is 21 to 43 years, with a 5 years relaxation. For PwBD candidates, the notification states that age relaxation will be as per the extant rules.

In addition to the above, candidates must have Indian citizenship as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.

Application Fee

Payment mode: The fee can be paid either offline through a Treasury Challan under the Head of Account “0210-Medical and Public Health-01-Urban Health Services-800-Other Receipt”, or online via the Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS) at https://assamegras.gov.in. The notification also clarifies that the fee is not refundable. A printed copy of the Treasury Challan generated through GRAS must be submitted at the time of interview, and candidates may write the post applied for in the remarks column.

3. Select the application link for Medical & Health Officer-I (M&HO-I) Recruitment.
4. Register/login using your mobile number and password.
5. Complete the application form by entering personal details, educational qualifications, category, and other required information.
6. Upload the required recent photograph and scanned signature as per the instructions provided on the portal.
7. Pay the application fee using the prescribed method (Treasury Challan/GRAS) as applicable to your category.
8. Review all details and then submit the application form.
9. Download and print a copy of the submitted application for future reference.

Important: The notification states that candidates do not need to submit testimonials/certificates at the time of online submission. However, original testimonials regarding educational qualification, date of birth, caste, PWD, Treasury Challan, working experience, etc., must be produced along with the application form at the time of interview. Self-attested copies of all testimonials/certificates are also required to be submitted to the Board at the time of interview.

Salary & Pay Scale

The notification further mentions that the salary will be as per Government of Assam rules and will include usual allowances.

Selection Process

The selection procedure for the M&HO-I posts will be notified later through a separate notice. The Board will determine the selection method for these posts based on the number of applications received.
